A station between the 14th and 15th arrondissements
Gare Montparnasse straddles the 14th and 15th arrondissements on the Left Bank. SNCF Gares & Connexions gives its address as 17 boulevard de Vaugirard, 75015; the main entrance, the Porte Océane, faces place Raoul-Dautry. The Montparnasse Tower stands close by, and a garden, the Jardin Atlantique, sits on a deck above the tracks.
The station opened in 1840 as Gare de l’Ouest. The present station dates from the rebuilding of the 1960s, after the old one was demolished in 1969; an extension in 1990 made room for the TGV Atlantique. In such a multi-level site, specify the hall before agreeing a meeting point.
This setting, between offices, business addresses and residential streets, explains the intensity of the flows. A waiting point fixed in advance, by message, avoids last-minute calls.

Brittany, Nantes, Bordeaux: where the trains go
Trains from Montparnasse serve Brittany, including Rennes, Brest and Quimper, as well as Nantes, Bordeaux and the south-west. The station is the northern terminus of the Atlantic high-speed line. On the coast, Wikipedia also lists La Rochelle, Biarritz and Hendaye.
For a business traveller or a family leaving for the weekend, the value of a chauffeur lies in keeping the logistics simple: pick-up at the hotel or home, drop-off at the right hall, then a name-board welcome on the way back. Check the trains and timetables currently running with SNCF.
Journeys to the Atlantic coast often combine rail and road at either end. Those legs are organised from Paris on request.

Halls 1 to 4: choosing the right meeting point
According to the official page, Hall 1 (levels -1 to 2) holds most shops, restaurants, the main-line ticket office and the taxi corridor, at level 2 near platform 24, where the assistance service for travellers with disabilities is also found. Halls 2, 3 and 4 offer other services; Hall 4 is at level 0.
French Wikipedia describes three zones: Montparnasse I (Porte Océane), II (Pasteur) and III (Vaugirard), the last used mainly by Granville and Argentan trains. Tell the chauffeur the zone or hall for your train: a meeting on the wrong side can complicate an arrival with luggage.
For a departure, also send the platform number as soon as it is displayed: the chauffeur can then meet you as close as the station and the authorities allow.

An airport or station transfer?
Flight or train number, passengers, bags: firm quote before confirmation.
Book my transferDrop-off and access: what the station decides
The station’s official page does not set out drop-off rules. These, like parking and traffic around the station, are decided by the station and the authorities and can change with roadworks. IKIGAI checks them before each assignment and builds them into the transport plan: a drop-off point and a pick-up point agreed with you in advance.
Montparnasse–Bienvenüe metro station is served by lines 4, 6, 12 and 13, with direct access from the ground-floor hall. This concentration of flows makes rush hours trickier: plan the departure from the real end time of an appointment.
Because the station is large, a short message with the hall and the exact meeting spot is worth sending on the morning of travel. It takes less than a minute and avoids most misunderstandings.

Linking with an airport or another station
A guest arriving by train from Brittany sometimes flies out the next day. A transfer to Orly or another airport can be attached to the same booking, with the same contact. Gare Saint-Lazare, on the Normandy side, works in the same way.
For a full day in Paris, a chauffeur at your disposal lets you keep the same vehicle between appointments instead of booking each trip. For families, the family service sets out the conditions.

Booking a chauffeur for Gare Montparnasse
IKIGAI issues a firm quote before any confirmation. Give the date, the train, the number of passengers and bags, and the pick-up or drop-off address. A name-board welcome is available, train tracking on request, round-the-clock availability on request, and invoicing is adapted to companies, family offices and concierge services.
To book, write by WhatsApp, e-mail or form. Other stations and airports are covered in our Airports & travel section, and the Paris stations service explains the pick-up in detail.
